FRIM & Rawang Heronry

After many hours of night driving, with foggy conditions during some parts of our journey, we're reaching our destination, The FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia).

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

FRIM is a centre for tropical forestry research, covering all aspects of forestry and forest products technologies. The centre is housed inside a park with numerous trails and open spaces for visitors to get close to nature.

Our friends getting ready for some action.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

This is the female Masked Finfoot, we were told that only one resides in this pond.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

A couple of Monitor Lizards also built their home in this pond; we hope they won't chase off the Masked Finfoot, which is a rare and endangered bird in Asia.

After a day of shooting, our Towkay (Boss) having his dinner before flying back to Singapore!

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

We're all drunk after the rounds of beer (bottles on the table) and were teasing SK while he was having dinner.

A group photo with all our friends.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

We still have time to head over to Rawang Heronry for a little recce before the sky gets dark.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

What an amazing sight! There were thousands of Herons in this heronry! From Greys to Purples to Little and Night Crowns!

After a really long day, we checked into this hotel to rest for the night.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

An early bird catches the worm; an early photographer captures the bird. We met a local photographer at Rawang. Hi there! :-0

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

Trying to get a better angle? Up the roof we go.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

The loving couple.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

Believe us... those dots in the sky were all herons. They took to the sky just before a thunderstorm came in... some of them even leaving their young behind.

FRIM & Rawang Heronry

Time to head back home, a last group photo at the petrol kiosk.
